Q7. What is tea tree?
A7. Tea Tree Gel (Melaleuca Alter-nifolia) is known worldwide for its healing and soothing qualities for the skin. For centuries the Aborigines in Australia have used tea tree oil for all types of skin-related treatments. Tea Tree Oil is also recommended for many types of skin irritations such as minor cuts, abrasions, and insect bites.
Q8. What is broad-spectrum protection?
A8. In order to prevent both burning of the skin as well as excessive dryness, formation of fine line, wrinkles, irregular skin pigmentation and weakening of the skin’s immune system and skin cancer, you must use a skin care product that provides both UVB and UVA I and UVA II protection.
Q9. Are your products waterproof?
A9. The FDA monograph on sun protection products dictate that no products indicate ‘water proofing’. However, all Ocean Potion products are water/sweat resistant up to 80 minutes in the water or from exertion. Sun blocks must be reapplied after towel drying.
Q10. Do Ocean Potion products contain PABA?
A10. No, all Ocean Potion products are PABA free.
Q11. Occasional incident of Parsol 1789-Avobenzone causing staining during the laundry process?
A11. For some reason, depending on where you live, (because of the differences in the water of different regions) Avobenzone can cause a yellow discoloration on white cotton clothing. This is true for all products containing Avobenzone. According to the company that makes Avobenzone (Hoffman LaRoche), this can be an issue if you live in an area with iron in your water. The iron makes the Avobenzone turn color!
For the staining, I’m told it comes out easily with a detergent cleanser that has (“Chelating”) agents (ingredients that prevent minerals from being to the surfaces or substances) such as FAB or ALL brand.
